Abstract

Studies were conducted into lactose levels of milk in response to experimentally irritated or artificially infected udder quarters. Milk lactose was found to be suitable as a model parameter by which to objectivate pathophysiological processes in the udder in the context of research, such as experiments on artificial udder infection or testing of udder tolerance of certain medicaments.
