Abstract
Discography, which is the direct injection of a radio-opaque medium into the nucleus pulposus, provides a useful adjunct in the diagnosis and investigation of pain related to the spine and is planning surgery of the spine. However, the procedure is little used in South Africa and this article serves to discuss its value and to describe new modifications.
