Three Navajo children presented with a total of five upper tract acid urate stones. Although this stone is thought to be rare in the United States, it may be more common than is generally believed. Age, diet, environment, and in some instances urinary tract infection may be predisposing factors in the development of acid urate stones. Possible prophylactic measures are briefly discussed.
