Instrumental esophageal perforation: a possible complication of bougienage following Quinton-Rubin esophageal biopsy.

A patient with a perforation following dilatation of the esophagus is presented. The temporal relationship between earlier Quinton-Rubin esophageal biopsies obtained by the use of the multi-purpose Quinton-Rubin tube and subsequent perforation is noted. The possibility of these events being causally related is discussed.
