The frequency in bronchial abnormalities is generally underestimated. In patients of a clinic for respiratory diseases however 3% were found in those having had a bronchoscopy, a figure which has up to now not been mentioned in the literature. After discussing originating theories and classifying possibilities the observations are tabulated, and some of them introduced as representative examples. In the discussion it is pointed out, that the abnormalities apparently represent a locus minoris resistentiae, since pathological changes are often found in these areas.
