A cultural anthropological approach to migrants' illness.

The impact of collective representations on a person's health may be considerable. It is worthwhile for those who work in the health services to get acquainted with the representations of their patients and with the world view in which they figure. This is illustrated by an example of a Moroccan in Holland and the application of local beliefs which caused a serious problem for attending doctors.
