Group work enabled parents of children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy to express fears and concerns, and to increase awareness of their attitudes toward themselves, their disabled child, their normal children, and the world at large. This article discusses how the group offered parents a way of exploring processes within the family and assisting in the management of psychosocial problems created in raising a child with a progressive fatal disease.
