The most important surgical procedures are described. Early postoperative control may reveal insufficiency of the anastomoses or stenosis caused by scar formation. Later examinations may reveal anatomic and functional alterations and have to exclude tumor recurrency. In our patients 13% of abdominal surgery concerned the colon. Of 3000 barium enemas, two were complicated by perforations following colonic or pancreatic surgery. Both patients survived.
