Spinal cord angioma--non-progressive disease?

In an analysis of 214 patients admitted to the Midland Spinal Injuries Unit with non-traumatic cord damage 18 patients had arteriovenous malformations (AVM of the cord. This paper describes the experience gained by this unit in the rehabilitation of these patients. A brief review of literature is included, essentially to highlight the relentless progress of the disease. The overall rehabilitation potential of these patients was poor. Fifty per cent of patients had further neurological loss during the follow-up period after the onset of paraplegia.
