Abstract

This paper is a survey and comparative type of study on the tumorogenetic effect of Agrobacterium tumefaciens on some plant species of Iran. The results obtained indicate that the tumor-inducing property of this micro-organism is not common to all plant species studied; moreover no tumor was initiated on the mature leaves by the bacteria. The results obtained with the local varieties of the susceptible plants show some qualitative and quantitative differences as compared with the works of other investigators, especially with regard to the formation of secondary tumors. The enhancing effect of indolyl-3-acetic-acid (IAA) on initiation, size, and number of primary and secondary tumors, induced by Agrobacterium, was also investigated and the results, to a certain degree, confirm those obtained by other workers. Viability of the bacteria in the tumors was also measured and the results obtained confirm the view that a continuous and active presence of the bacteria is essential for growth and development of the tumors.

本文是关于根癌农杆菌对伊朗一些植物物种致瘤作用的调查与比较研究。所得结果表明,这种微生物的致瘤特性并非在所研究的所有植物物种中都普遍存在;此外,细菌未在成熟叶片上引发肿瘤。与其他研究者的工作相比,易感植物本地品种的研究结果在一些定性和定量方面存在差异,特别是在次生肿瘤的形成方面。还研究了吲哚 - 3 - 乙酸(IAA)对根癌农杆菌诱导的原发性和继发性肿瘤的起始、大小和数量的增强作用,结果在一定程度上证实了其他研究者的发现。还测定了肿瘤中细菌的活力,所得结果证实了这样一种观点,即细菌的持续活跃存在对于肿瘤的生长和发育至关重要。
