Abstract
The arrival process for emergency patients, impatients, and scheduled and unscheduled outpatients is closely studied by time-series analysis. The hourly variation in weekday arrival rates is examined and a model describing the processes with a considerable degree of predictive accuracy is developed. The model is tested by comparing predicted values with data from a follow-up survey.
