An apparatus designed to electrically stun Karakul lambs prior to slaughter was tested for efficiency using the cardiac pain reflex and electrocorticograms to assess unconsciousness. The electrical shock delivered by the apparatus was found to produce unconsciousness, as opposerd to curarisation, of sufficient duration to allow for subsequent slaughter.
