Abstract

The adrenal weight of adult male hamsters was significantly heavier (p = less than 0.001) than those of age-matched females. The increased weight was due to an increased thickness of the adrenal cortex, especially of the zona reticularis. The width of the zona reticularis was approximately three times greater in males than females.
