The article deals with the diagnosis of and surgical tactics in cranio-facial injury. The authors substantiate the expediency of early operations for compression of the brain and early (within the first 5 days) final reposition and fixation of fragments in fractures of the jaws irrespective of the severity of the brain damage. The suggested modifications in the management of craniofacial injury made it possible to improve the outcomes in severly affected patients.
