Abstract

Electrophysiological findings gave ground for a scheme of cat superior cervical ganglion pathways. Apart from numerous preganglionic fibers terminated on the ganglionic neurons, it includes these elements: 1) infrequent preganglionic fibers passing through the ganglion into its peripheral nerves and forming a branched system of axon-reflex synaptic connections in the ganglion; 2) accessory cervical ganglion's postganglionic fibers passing through the superior cervical ganglion without forming synaptic connections with its neurons; 3) unidentified uninterrupted fibers passing among different peripheral nerves of the superior cervical ganglion.
