The use of the first 10 MeV microtron for radiation therapy is described. After six years and about 2500 patient treatments, an evaluation of the performance and properties of this kind of treatment unit is presented. The number of patients with specified tumor sites and treatment modality, and the number of working days lost due to failure of the machine per year, are given and the quality control programme is presented.
