The Unions' objectives in educational politics--such as: opening the universities socially for qualified workers, research in favor of work life and work situation, qualified formation--determine their position towards seniors' studies. Positive results for the senior population; for the universities and for society as a whole can be visualized. Discussion of the specific needs of the elderly, of the nexus between scientific research and continuing education, and of the advocacy--or compensative function of science.
