[Single dose treatment of primary syphilis with Benzathine penicillin (author's transl)].

Out of 40 male patients with primary syphilis diagnosed microscopically by dark field preparations and by serological tests 20 patients were treated with a single intramuscular injection of 4.8 millions I. U. Benzathine penicillin and 20 patients with a daily intramuscular injection of 1 million I. U. Clemizol penicillin over a period of 21 days. In all patients success of treatment was verified by complete remission of the clinical symptoms and by serological tests over a period of 2 years. Single dose treatment with Benzathine penicillin represents a simple and reliable method of treatment of primary syphilis.
