It is the advantage of cryotherapy of eyelid tumors that it does not destroy the lacrimal points or the lacrimal canaliculi. The patency of these is kept in spite of freezing tempertures near to fluid nitrogen boiling point. To explain this phenomenon, thermoelectrical measurements during, and histological examinations after experimental cryotherapy were performed. Epithelial lesions lasting a few days were noted and the lumen of canaliculi always remained open.
