Histamine can be presented as neurotransmitter and immunomodulator beside its direct action as mediator of allergic and pseudoallergic responses. Histamine is involved in inhibition or stimulation of metabolic processes which have important in immunological as well in neural processes. The differentiation between H1- und H2-receptors of histamine extends the therapeutical use of antihistaminics in dependence of their pharmacological affinity.
