Mycobacteriology results of the CAP proficiency testing programs are reviewed for the years 1975-1981. Survey participants have shown a continuing and improving ability to isolate and identify Mycobacterium tuberculosis, nontuberculous mycobacteria, and to identify acid-fast bacteria in stain preparations.
