The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect and quantify antibodies to whole worm extract antigens of Dictyocaulus filaria. The results provided evidence that the test was highly sensitive and could be used as a tool for epidemiological studies. No cross reactions were observed with sera from lambs infected with the hookworm Gaigeria pachyscelis.
