[Niacin metabolism in the rat after administration of large doses of folic acid].

Administration to rats of large doses (500 mg per kg bw) of folic acid did not exert any effect on daily excretion of N'-methyl nicotinamide with urine on days 10, 15 and 20 of experiment and raised 1.5-fold the content of nicotinamide nucleotides in the blood by day 20 of experiment as compared with respective parameters in the control animals. The content of nicotinamide nucleotides in the liver increased 1.37-and 1.81-fold on days 15 and 20 of experiment, respectively.
