A one-year-old male boxer coming from Belgium was presented at the Small Animal Clinic with signs of respiratory distress which had been present for three weeks. A radiograph of the thorax showed features of peribronchitis and infiltration in both lungs. In spite of antibiotic and supportive therapy the dog died. Postmortem examination of the lungs revealed a large number of nematodes in most of the bronchioles and alveoli. These nematodes were identified as filaroides milksi, Whitlock, 1956, a lungworm of dogs which has not been reported in Europe previously.
