Abstract

Cefotaxime is a new broad-spectrum injectable cephalosporin which is stable to most beta-lactamases. In this study we have evaluated the antibacterial activity of cefotaxime comparatively with the activity of cephalotin against 66 Gram-negative bacteria and 31 Gram-positive bacteria by using an automated antimicrobial susceptibility determination system. Cefotaxime was markedly more active than cephalotin against Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus, Enterobacter, Escherichia coli and Serratia. Against Gram-positive clinical isolates cefotaxime was less active than cephalotin. Regrowth was observed mainly with cephalotin against Gram-negative clinical isolates, therefore the results obtained after a few hours with automated system should be carefully interpreted.

头孢噻肟是一种新型的广谱注射用头孢菌素,对大多数β-内酰胺酶稳定。在本研究中,我们使用自动抗菌药敏测定系统,比较了头孢噻肟与头孢噻吩对66株革兰氏阴性菌和31株革兰氏阳性菌的抗菌活性。头孢噻肟对肺炎克雷伯菌、变形杆菌、肠杆菌、大肠杆菌和沙雷氏菌的活性明显高于头孢噻吩。对于革兰氏阳性临床分离株,头孢噻肟的活性低于头孢噻吩。主要观察到头孢噻吩对革兰氏阴性临床分离株有再生长现象,因此,对于自动系统在数小时后获得的结果应谨慎解读。
