Recombinant plasmides were constructed, which contained all the genome of virus SV 40 and were able to replicate in bacterial and yeast cells. The plasmides were dissimilar in the orientation of the virus SV 40 genome towards the vector YEp 13. Reversed correlation was found between molecular weight and the transformating activity of plasmides for yeast cells.
