Little attention has been given to hormone receptors in preinvasive breast lesions. Results of biochemical analyses of duct in situ carcinomas reveal hormone receptors presence but with lower levels than in infiltrative lesions. Histochemical methods applied for lobular in situ carcinomas are not specific. The data would seem to warrant an investigation of the possible use of hormonal treatment in alternative of preventive surgery usually applied in preinvasive lesions.
