Modern diagnosis of Schilder's disease is based on elimination by enzymatic test of the metabolic forms of diffuse sclerosis and elimination of subacute sclerosis panencephalitis with EEG investigations and determination of measles antibodies, demonstration by computer tomography of demyelination foci, and demonstration of typical changes in visual and auditory evoked potentials. Correct diagnosis of Schilder's disease opens the possibility of tentatives of treatment with immunosuppression, plasmapheresis and lymphocytopheresis.
