Abstract
The use of biologic markers, particularly the dexamethasone suppression test, in both diagnosis and patient management is reviewed. It is suggested that the DST is best used to support the clinical diagnosis by lending an objectivity similar to that available in other areas of medicine. Guidelines for administration and interpretation of the test are provided.
