[History of continuing medical education within the scope of regional associations and societies].

In Halle the associations and societies with the aim of postgraduate medical education can look back on a tradition lasting for centuries. The beginnings which are to be proved for the 18th century led to the formation of associations and societies which besides the mediation of knowledge also dealt with problems of the medical profession. In Halle on the basis of regional societies as well as in form of clinico-scientific soirées is made allowance for the demands of modern medical postgraduate education, the latter institution existing since 1959 can at present refer to 200 arrangements performed and forms a not unimported partial complex for the regional postgraduate educational system.
