Open-angle glaucoma is not a benign disease; untreated, it can lead to total blindness. If intraocular tension is controlled early, before onset of visual field loss or optic nerve degeneration, the prognosis is good.

开角型青光眼并非良性疾病；若不治疗，可导致完全失明。如果在视野丧失或视神经变性发作之前早期控制眼压，预后良好。
