Abstract
A strain of Streptococcus pneumoniae has been isolated from a five-month-old child with persistent otitis media. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) detected was 4 micrograms/ml penicillin. This strain was possibly selected out by inadequate penicillin V therapy.
