The pharyngoesophageal time, the time interval between the peak pharyngeal pressure and the peak esophageal pressure ten centimeters apart, after wet deglutitions, was measured in 50 controls and 37 chagasic patients. The time was 2.90 +/- 0.64 seconds in controls and 3.69 +/- 1.32 seconds in chagasics (P less than 0.01). In Chagas' disease the esophagus shows a delay in contraction produced by wet deglutitions.
在50名对照组和37名恰加斯病患者中测量了湿吞咽后咽食管时间，即相距10厘米处咽压峰值与食管压峰值之间的时间间隔。对照组的该时间为2.90±0.64秒，恰加斯病患者为3.69±1.32秒（P<0.01）。在恰加斯病中，食管出现因湿吞咽产生的收缩延迟。
