The Capiox 54, Interpulse and TMO oxygenators were compared under clinical conditions. None of the devices is ideal, however all are reliable in regard to gas exchange and laboratory data. Evacuation of air (CO2) seems a problem in Capiox, high pressure amplitudes are suspicious for creation of extreme shearing in Interpulse and TMO may reveal low (dead) flow areas within the blood path's.
