Abstract

The authors determined the adenine nucleotide concentration in the lumbosacral segments of the dog's spinal cord after ligature of the abdominal aorta. They found that 80 min ligature produced marked changes in energy metabolism in the given region. The changes are probably permanent, since two days after the circulation had been renewed the adenine pool was still not completely replenished and the energy charge ratio had likewise not returned to control values.
