Abstract
Ergometrine is able to increase the acid output from stomach-perfused rat preparation and its effect is antagonized by cimetidine. The drug excite the H1 receptors of guinea-pig's long strip. On the coronary artery isolated strip the alkaloid causes a potent vasoconstrictor effect mediator through receptors for biogenic amines.
