Clinical-epidemiological screening of the registered psychiatric patients over 60 years and more and of representative random age-matched groups of the overall population has permitted attaining a maximum complete picture of mental health in old individuals living within a limited area of an industrial city. The data obtained have made it possible to determine the registered, non-registered and actual morbidity prevalence of the population studied. Thus, the author has identified the characteristics of screening, i.e., the registration of mental patients of old age by agencies of mental services in relation to their sex, age and the nature of the disorder and some social and environmental factors.
对60岁及以上登记在册的精神科患者以及具有代表性的、与总体人群年龄匹配的随机分组进行临床流行病学筛查，有助于全面了解居住在工业城市有限区域内老年人的心理健康状况。所获得的数据使我们能够确定所研究人群中登记、未登记及实际发病的患病率。因此，作者确定了筛查的特征，即精神卫生机构对老年精神患者的登记情况，涉及他们的性别、年龄、疾病性质以及一些社会和环境因素。
