[Choice of a method of draining the mediastinum in children with anterior purulent mediastinitis].

The authors make an analysis of results of the treatment of 10 children of early age with anterior purulent mediastinitis. Indications for different methods of drainage of mediastinum are discussed in the restricted and extended processes. The method of retrosternal drainage of mediastinum in its total length is described for extended purulent mediastinitis. The proposed technique in combination with medication and infusion therapy allowed to avoid lethal outcomes.
