[Comparative evaulation of different methods of draining the mediastinum in treating posterior suppurative mediastinitis].

A comparative study of the effectiveness of various methods of the drainage of the mediastinum was carried out on the grounds of the analysis of the clinical course and lethality in two groups of patients. The drainage of the mediastinum by means of two double-gap silicon tubes, followed by flowing-fractional washing and aspiration from the purulent cavity, applied in 40 patients, proved to be the most effective.
