Abstract

The poststenotic jet phenomenon in aortic valve stenosis observed during angiography was studied by a kinetic model. The model allowed to estimate the linear momentum and the kinetic pressure of the jet, which were found to correlate to the poststenotic width of the ascending aorta indicating that the degree of poststenotic widening may be due to the pressure release from the jet.
