Ectopic gastric mucosa can be found in 40-80% of Meckel's diverticula; parietal cells producing acid are not inhibited by regulatory factors, giving rise in some cases to ulcers, which may perforate. A case report of a patient with a perforated ulcer in a Meckel's diverticulum is given. Meckel's diverticula should be removed surgically when they are diagnosed or when they are found by chance during surgery because of the risk of complications.
