In man heart rate and blood pressure show a dependence upon age, the heart rate additionally still upon the degree of stress of the cardiovascular system after an operative intervention and a disease, respectively. These dependences, in heart rate for reasons of calculation referred to the body surface and not to age, can be brought into mathematical connections. Thus it is possible to establish for every patient an optimum value for these two parameters.
