Abstract
Contact with hydrofluoric acid may produce extensive tissue necrosis. This can be prevented by prompt recognition and specific treatment. Unfortunately, symptoms and therefore treatment are often delayed. Education of employees and physicians should result in the prevention of unnecessary tissue destruction and pain for those inadvertently exposed to hydrofluoric acid.
