The provision of a Home Visiting Nursing Service, as part of the total rehabilitation team, plays an important part in preventing re-admission to hospital of spinal cord injured patients suffering from urinary tract infections or pressure sores. The Home Visiting Nurse provides discharged patients with a reinforcement of the educational aims of the rehabilitation programme, leading to greater success in their re-introduction both emotionally and physically leading to independent living.
