The article reports on experience gained with short excursions (day trips and brief holidays) for chronic psychiatric patients. Such trips have a beneficial effect on the patients' mental status and improve the image of in-patient psychiatric treatment. To the patients, this form of sociotherapeutic activity represents an enrichment in the overall therapeutic scheme at psychiatric sanatoria.
