Clients have more contraceptive alternatives available today than at any time in the past. While most clients have some knowledge of the various contraceptive methods, they frequently require more specific information from the health-care professional to determine the suitability of a particular method for individual use. Nurse practitioners are trained to provide clients with accurate information and to help them explore individual needs and preferences for a contraceptive method.
