Abstract
The efficacy of educational review articles as alternatives to traditional continuing education courses in pharmacology was evaluated using pre-tests and post-tests and an intrasubject cross-over design. There was a significant improvement (p less than 0.001) from pre-test to post-test in a group of 44 subjects who read an article reviewing the clinical pharmacology of nitrous oxide. This observation suggests that educational review articles may be useful as adjuncts to traditional sources of information for continuing education in pharmacology.
