The value of rational biopsy. Tissue culture of chorioretinal biopsies.

Although tissue biopsies for diagnosis have been an integral part of the development of many medical areas, progress has been restricted in the case of chorioretinal disease because of the inherent risks involved in such surgery. The recent advances in microsurgery of the eye, and in vitreoretinal surgery in particular, have provided the impetus to develop a safe technique for retinal biopsy and to look for diagnostic and therapeutic indications.
