Administration of theophylline at concentrations from 1 X 10(-8) to 1 X 10(-4) M to incubation media different in ionic composition essentially and inconclusively changed the biophysical characteristics of the jejunal wall segment. The greatest changes in the potential gradient and current density were observed upon the use of minimal (1 X 10(-8), 1 X 10(-7) M) and maximal (1 X 10(-4) M) final concentrations of theophylline.
