Results of the surgical treatment of 2033 patients with thyrotoxic goiter were analyzed. The postoperative lethality was 0,49%. The author recommends a program of examining the patients consisting of three steps. Plasmapheresis proved to be an effective method of preoperative preparing the patients with thyrotoxicosis.
